Free trial Programs

The Thought

Free trial programs have been around since aeons now. Right from FMCG products, offering a sachet of Shampoo with a Magazine, to offering a Free trial Classes from an educational institute, or test drive a Car. Endless examples can be quoted and everything is based on experience. 
But what happens when the market changes, when eeverything is becoming more technology savvy, and Internet has emerged as the new market. Will the same strategy works in Internet? Not exactly.


Internet is full of applications and software, everyone claiming their stake of being the best by offering a product which makes your work faster, simpler and easier.
But the biggest challenge that the internet business face is not how to make great products, instead,
how to make a process which is remarkable enough that eases a customer to do a specific work, quickly.
The objective must be make the process as fast as possible that the customer starts experiencing your product.

Two strategies are applied by various organizations in E- Business
1. To offer a Product in two specified format.
One is the Basic, which has a limited usability, the other is Pro, which is a paid version with more functionality.

2. To offer a product in One format, all the features, but for alimited amount of time.
    "Free Trial for 30 days with Money back gurantee".

Both strategies are targeted to specific audience, but no business think of any other strategy to woo the audience.
There can be 3rd strategy
1. Give the latest product free, with all the functionality for a user for couple of weeks, and then
ask them to fill a questionnaire, or seeek their opinion.
If they can refer this particular software to 10 friends ( with valid email id and address) and take their opinion, complie it and send across to the company,
the company will offer the product for free to the customer.


Now what this will do is, if your product is remarkable enough, the first person in the chain, who gets the product for free will talk to thousands of people, refer it to atleast 10 ( you asked for it) and when you give it free, the ten in the chain, will refer it to next ten.
So you are assured that this Chain reaction which will be exponential in nanture, will create the biggest buzz and brand for your product.


Remember, when the Market change, so does your strategy.....
