26 year Young Vs 16 year Old

TheThought
The generation gap, which used to stand at 20+ years has now come down to 10 years.
A ten year elder person, is similarly confused and surprised with a 16 year youths wants and desire  as a parent used to be with the child.
What the implications of this is and how can you as a marketer/brand manager use this to your advantage?

Period. Agree that there are things, which a 26 year old cannot figure out about the 16 year old today.
If you see the comparison, what will strike most is the way the change has taken place.
During the year 2000, a 16 year old person, wished to be like a 26 year old person, who was considered financially free, and was one among the most respected and desired in the community.
Certain aspects which helped this 26 year old to be a brand used to be, gadgets, like walkman, Sports shoes which were although limited but were able to make a mark and leave impression. So for a 16 year, this freedom was an ultimate form of desires.

Consider now, a 16 year, has much more than what a 26 year old used to have, and that's why you will witness a 26 year old wondering, " how do they behave yaar?".
You will surely have a cousin or nephew/niece, who must be doing certain things in school, which you could have never dream of.
Consider this case, a close friend of mine narrated this about her nephew.
When in school, teacher taught this little kid, to write "A", letter, and then went on to ask to write this
"10 times", he gave a incredible answer.

" Wah! khud ek baar likhe ho, aur mujhsey 10 baar likhney keh rahe ho", as in " You have written it just once, and asking me to write 10 times".

The implications of these changes are plenty and as a marketer you have an advantage if you can understand it. Let me share few:

1. In the coming age idea of fun, can never be satisfied or limited. No longer games, game zone, etc are going to give them a pump. Only something huge, magnificent, something called a purple cow, is going to take their attention. So, if your business is not doing something remarkable, extremely outlandish, your efforts are useless.

2. Innovation is the only aspect which will provide the unfair advantage. If its not innovative, its non existent for me.

3. Wow, so Cool: the term used by a 26 year young,
Wow, so Hot; is the term used by a 16 year old.
Choose whom you wish to woe.

4. Give them an Option to share it with friends, until you do that, you are never going to be able to reach the critical mass.

5. Involve, but do not forget to Evolve. ( much more on this coming in next post).

Happy getting attention.

The Critic

Critics are everywhere. You find them cribing, saying bad about you, and trying to make you feel insecure.
They laugh at your efforts, they make you feel low, and go extra mile to ensure you are hit.
What to do when you face one?

Recently, one of my blogpost attracted my long lost friend critic of mine -who is currently based in Mumbai- to write some beautiful words. here what the person wrote:

Power of Discontent

The Thought:

What makes a person go, reach for something larger, something bigger, something which takes his sleep away?
It all depends upon your power of discontent.

Discontent: as the dictionary defines, is opposite of Contentment, also, it means A relentless longing for better circumstances.
The great George Bernard Shaaw said, " The Reasonable man adapts himself to the world, unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself, therefore, all progress depends on the Unreasonable man.".

Now I am not pushing you to become impractical and go take foolish risk. But What I am trying to sell you is
go ahead and think out of the Box. Be discontended with things, don't crib, instead do your best effort to improve on the current state.
Only a truely discontended person, will have sleepless nights, becasue he had a dream, a dream which he cannot renounce.

In case your are discontended with your current state, and crib, Stop doing it from Now on.
And change your words from today itself. Don't think what has happened, now think what you need to and can do to improve your current state.
Remember

" Its the Discontent in you that will help you grow".

Find out who you are...

The Thought

Human is a social being. To spend a quality life, we build relations, and its these relations which go on defining our characterstic traits. Although, each one of us are unique, still we are all deviation from a specific set of features and traits. Identifying these traits within us and in the people around can give you an extra advantage to get your work done. The post discusses on various types of "Archtypes" and the way to find yours.

Archtypes, the word first appeared in European text in 1545, and is derived from greek word ἀρχέτυπον (archetypon) meaning "First moulded".
In plato's concept, he proposed that archtypes are characterstics imprinted in the soul of human being, and it was purely a mental form.
The Jungian ( Carl Gustov Jung) archtypes were more accepted forms as he proposed that it emerge as human emerge in their life.

It might amaze most of the readers that the way you think, pick a particular thing, use a particular set of vocabulary is governed by a specific set of traits which you imbibed during your childhood.
So if you believe that your boss is not able to udnerstand your ideas, or is trying to push your buttons, or
your spouse is not able to understand you, its because there exist a pattern in you as well as in them, which is not at the same wavelength.
Knowing these archtypes can help you help yourself  and them both.

Let's look at the basics of Archtypes.

There are 4 basic types of Archtypes.

The problems start because of creation of an imbalance, or a clogging, and/or some distortion of these qualities in us.

Unloving Father: the controller, acts like a critic and the Ruler types.
Unloving Mother: The Spoiling, one who becomes aloof, or one who abandons
Unloved Boychild: becomes a rebellion
Unloved Girlchild: the victim, and soap-opera queen.

In 1953, psychologists Brian Emmanuel Grey and Caroline Hanstke discovered that our life is filtered around these four energies. If one can understand these four energies and the dominant one in the self and others, one could better treat self/person to create a lasting change and impact.

Example, if you know that the boy has a distorted energy and has become a Rebel, you know what energy level he is dealing with and only after you match that level first, he will listen to your words. Hence instead of trying to explain him how he is wrong, one must first try to match him with the rebel nature, and tell stories of self rebellion.

With these four basic Archetypes emerges more than 100+ different archtypes characters, like magician, Mentor, Witch, Hero etc etc.
